    Hi. I had been taking Plaquenil for about three years. Six months ago the doctor put me on the Imuran. I did not have any side effects from it thank goodness. Unfortunately, I had to stop taking it just last week. Every time I would get sick I would have to stop taking it. It lowered my immune system so much that I caught anything going around. Hi everyone. I was diagnosed with SLE in March 13' and just recently with fibro in August. I've been taking 400mg of plaquenil daily along with heart meds for a heart condition I've had for 11 years now. My rheumy wants me to start taking Imuran starting on the 1st of the new year. Does anyone else take Azathioprine Imuran® has some activity in rheumatoid arthritis but may take 8-12 weeks to see an effect.
