  7. I had been taking plaquenil since April for my lupus and sjogrens. It was working really well and just recently my rheumy told that I was in remission. I felt great. Then I had an allergic reaction to the plaquenil - a rash all over my body, neck, arms and legs. I stopped taking it 1 week ago.

So far from the other posts it may seems that Plaquenil may be somehow associated with skin rash that looks like small hives and patchy itchiness. If anyone has any comments or had experienced anything similar, I would be very happy to hear PLEASE HELP! I have been on Plaquenil well the generic form-- hydroxychloroquine since October, and for the past about 2 weeks, I have been SEVERELY skin turns red, and it feels like something is biting me. It's bad around my ankles and the tops of my feet, my arms, and I get red blotches and spots on my chest. Side effects include irritability, headache, weakness, hair lightening or loss, stomach upset, nausea, dizziness, muscle pain, rash and itching. Rarely, hydroxychloroquine can affect the bone marrow leading to reduced white blood cells leukopenia or platelets thrombocytopenia and abnormal red blood cells anemia.
